Project 101: End of the line

That title probably didn’t need to be quite that ominous, but oh well. So, here we are at the end of project 101. It’s been exciting. It’s been fun. Is it bad that the part I was most pleased about was the fact that the month ended on one of my scheduled posting days so I didn’t have to break my posting plan? idk

Anyway, I stuck to it for an entire month! (apart from three days in the middle where if I stuck to my challenge I’d be wearing wet clothes. That’s not cool. Maybe I should have made that a built in exception? Anyway, I wore different clothes for those three days and then just went back to it after last Sunday. The one we just had. I need to get out of this parenthesis)

So I guess it’s possible to do, but it’s probably more sensible to not try and do it by hiding all your other clothes, especially if people are going to have to come into your room and pack up your stuff so you can move house. There’s nothing quite like people finding a sneaky pair of trousers hidden in your desk drawer. I ended up hiding in my mum’s bedroom for the whole morning.

Project 101

I’m a bit of a fan of the concept of minimalism, especially in wardrobe/fashion. This feels a bit like cheating, because I used to absolutely hate fashion (with a passion!) so I never really had a maxi-wardrobe to downsize to a mini-wardrobe.

Still. I console myself with the idea that it’s basically as if I came to the idea of minimalism pre-prepared! I might actually end up too minimal, because I’ve just realised there are at least two summer tops I can’t wear again unless I become suddenly flat-chested/skinny-as-a-rail. It won’t happen. So I may have to buy a few more things. Or not, I suppose, depending on how this goes…

Anyway, I’ve digressed. Project 333 is a minimalist fashion project where you choose 33 garments and wear them, and only them, for three months. That… is a long time. Especially considering that a) the seasons are changing and b) short attention span combine to make this a tricky one. So I’m making my own project. I’m living life on the edge, baby!

Project 101 is my own challenge I’m setting myself to wear 10 garments (shoes inclusive) for one month. If the title Project 333 confused you (like it confused me), I hope that goes some way to explaining it. (I must’ve spent a good few minutes asking myself what all the 3s were about. Now we know. Cool story, bro.) This is basically going by the usual rules, but so you know:

  1. Underwear, sleepwear, lounge wear and workout wear don’t count (not that I’ll be doing a lot of workouts, but…)
  2. Items not included should only be worn for their intended purpose i.e. no wandering around in trackie bottoms for days on end. That’s cheating.
  3. The 10 item limit also doesn’t include jewellery you wear all the time i.e. watch/wedding ring.

Anyway, without further ado, here is the wardrobe I intend to use during Project 101:

There is a top missing, because I bought it several years ago and apparently it ceased to exist after it stopped being sold. Anyway, wish me luck etc, because I may well need it.

Oh, and if someone could work out how to embed pinterest boards properly on wordpress.com, that’d be spiffing. I just spend half an hour trying to do it, and that above effort was the best I could do.
